The conference "Africa, Climate Change and Israel's Contributi"

The conference will take place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem on November 22, 2018.

According to the UN Experts on Climate Change, IPCC, and other climate models, Africa is one of the most vulnerable continent to climate change. These are already visible in all directions through increasing temperatures, decreasing precipitation and increase of extreme events such as floods and damage to agricultural output.

Many African countries are becoming increasingly vulnerable to climate changes due to considerable reliance on rain-fed agriculture, rapid urbanization and desertification.

Israel has developed many technologies and capabilities that can be of particular relevance to African countries as they face the challenges of climate change, thus helping to addressing one of the major problems on the international agenda. Israel looks forward to sharing with African countries our expertise and experience in fields such as water, agriculture, renewable energy, smart cities, health, innovation, education, and more.

The conference will be attended by high officials of the UN as well as well as world leader's experts on climate change. It aims at introducing the relevant stakeholders in Israel, headed by the business sector, government officials, NGOs and academia, with the challenges and prospects Africa is facing and in order to examine what could be done to help the continent in general and in light of the climate change and it's ramifications in particular.
