Join us for the first ever Israeli Workshop in Katonah Yoga -- the transformational method pioneered in New York, which will transform how you practice yoga and how you move in the world.

Have you been wanting to know more about why we practice physical yoga and why we do certain poses? Have you been struggling with an injury or pain in you practice? Do you want to transform pieces of your physical or emotional life? Do you wonder how the mind/body/spirit connection works?

The Katonah yoga practice is transformational, magical and pragmatic. It teaches us techniques for more fully living in our bodies and offers practical tools to create more magic in our lives.

Katonah yoga provides a highly refined, embodied method for physical yoga (asana) practice based on fun, safe, efficient and functional movements and a clearly defined framework for how and why we practice asana & breathwork. It teaches us how to harness the power of mind, body and breath to our advantage; teaching that by changing our physiology we change our psychology.

In this introductory workshop to Katonah’s physical practice and theory, we will explore how to use Asana and Pranayama to find joy and get what we want.

No experience required, beginners and advanced practitioners are welcome.

Description of Katonah

Katonah Yoga is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan over 40 years. She and her teachers incorporate classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being.

Framing the practice, maps of time and personal space are defined and refined. Themes using asana as origami, manipulating form for function, and developing a sense of personal measure are incorporated in Katonah Yoga practices.

Katonah Yoga is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue: all polarities are mediated by trinity; the universe has pattern, pattern implies intelligence; by virtue of repetition there is potential for insight.

Revelations are revolutionary.

About Us

Elana Leopold: Yoga RYT 500+ and Katonah Yoga Teacher, Feldenkrais practitioner

Elana started practicing yoga in 2002 and became a certified teacher in 2015 under the tutelage of Roxi Stolk, leading Israeli teacher of Yoga and Non-Dualism. Elana has practiced and studied Katonah Yoga (New York) since 2015 and is certified under its founder Nevine Michaan and senior teacher Abbie Galvin. She is continually awed the genius of the practice. A Feldenkrais Method© practitioner, she finds that Feldenkrais augments her yoga practice, fine-tuning awareness, offering entry into more subtle space in the body/mind and teaching how to slow down, release ambition and feel more.

Originally from New York, Elana has resided in this magical land for 6+ years. A researcher in peace, human relations and healthy femininity, from 2016-2018 she lived at and managed EcoME, the Israeli-Palestinian Center for Peace and Sustainability and continues to live a community oriented life in Pardes Hanna. Elana walks a path of embodiment, using somatic practices as a way of making our human experience here on earth more joyful and easier to handle.
