Dean Tsur & The Songbirds +Strings
Dean Tsurโ€™s debut album release party/concert featuring music from the album and new arrangements written specifically for this evening.

Thelonious Monk semifinalist Dean Tsur has become known for his focus on making fun and romantic jazz music as a saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. Upon completing his Masterโ€™s at The Juilliard School, Dean formed his band, the Saxophone Choir. Dean is also the first prize winner at the North American Saxophone Alliance Competition and the Carinthian International Jazz Award Competition. โ€‹

Dean has performed with Grammy-winning jazz musicians including Roy Hargrove and Wynton Marsalis, as well as with Thelonious Monkโ€™s drummer Billy Kaye. Deanโ€™s Saxophone Choir has performed at New Yorkโ€™s leading jazz venues, including Dizzyโ€™s Club, Mintonโ€™s Playhouse, and Smalls.

Deanโ€™s album Moments of Inspiration is releasing on Nov 6 on the Outside in Music label (NY). The album has been featured at All About Jazz and played at Kansas Public Radio and KCBX-FM (California), to name a few.

Dear Tsur (Saxophone); Yonatan Riklis (piano); Tal Ronen (bass); Gasper Bertoncelj (drums); Hagar Maoz (violin); Yael Shapira (cello)

***

Bassist and composer Shay Hazan, based in Tel-Aviv, presents his latest group release with new reflections and directions. The band, two-horns strong and backed by the classic piano, bass and drums unit, continues to strike ripples in their near and farther surroundings. Only that in Hazan's case, backing does not mean hiding. His significant bass work carries the group into the magical realms of Gnawa music from Morocco, the new wave of Hip-Hop, and the 1960's Chicago Free Jazz and human rights movement, all these casts into a fresh blend of old and new flavours.

Shay Hazan (bass & Guimbri); Tal Avraham (trumpet); Eyal Netzer (Saxophone); Milton Michaeli (poano); Nitzan Birnbaum (drums)
