Yoni Rechter is one of the leading musicians in Israel, a diverse composer and a talented performer, producer and music arranger, who has won critical acclaim and audience sympathy. His wonderful melodies to beloved songs, characterized by complex harmonies alongside simple and memorable melodies, and his musical work - sophisticated but never pretentious - became the soundtrack of Israeli culture for more than four decades. He was born and raised in Tel Aviv and began playing the piano at the age of eight. The iconic song "Tears of Angels", written by his classmate Dan Minster. He did his military service in the Artillery Corps band and then studied at the Tel Aviv Academy of Music. During this time he joined "Kaveret", a groundbreaking band in the history of local rock and pop and one of the most successful in its history. At the same time, he formed with Avner Kenner the ensemble "14 Octaves" (1975), which created and performed works inspired by advanced rock, jazz and classical music. These three musical worlds will find deep and lasting expression in Rechter's unique work as a composer, arranger, and performer of classical and contemporary music. He is responsible for many Israeli hits, which he composed while combining elements of classical music and jazz, and gave them a rich arrangement inspired by rock. He has collaborated with several popular music grants in Israel, including Arik Einstein, Yossi Banai, Esther Ofarim, Gidi Gov, and Yehudit Ravitz.

is considered one of the leading jazz musicians in the world and is one of the 350 greatest guitar players of all time. Upon his release from a military band, Mordi briefly (1979-1982) left his mark on the history of Israeli music by playing performances and albums of great Israeli artists: Arik Einstein, Shlomo Artzi, Yoni Rechter, Eli Magen, Miki Gavrielov, Shem Tov Levy, Nurit Galron, Esther Ofarim, Shlomo Gronich and many more.
For the past 35 years he has lived in New York and built a worldwide career where he has played and recorded with great jazz musicians; Michael Brecker, Eddie Gomez, Jack Dejohnette, Bob Mintzer, Jack Bruce, Peter Erskine to name a few Suburbs was a senior lecturer at New York University, New School and Berkeley College from 1986 to 2012. As a sought-after composer he has written music for television shows and films such as; The Sopranos, Everyone loves Raymond, Felicity, Jackass, The Guilty. Fresh Prince of Bel air and many more. Mordi is the first Israeli to receive a full scholarship to Berkeley, and also the only Israeli to have guitars built in his name. To date he has released 5 solo albums with Enja, Half Note, CBS.
