Experience the Negev from above and below on this unforgettable day hike through the dramatic landscapes of the Zin Canyon. From sweeping canyon vistas to intimate desert trails, this trip offers a perfect blend of hiking, wildlife, and natural history.
We begin at Sde Boker, visiting Ben-Gurion’s Grave for panoramic views over the Zin Canyon, while scanning the skies for Griffon Vultures and other birds of prey riding the thermal winds. From there, we descend into the heart of Ein Avdat Canyon, where towering cliffs and desert springs provide close-up views of these majestic vultures and a deeper understanding of the conservation efforts protecting this endangered species.
As we hike upward through the canyon, we will explore the region’s striking geology, unique desert plants, and hidden water sources, ending with breathtaking views from the canyon rim.
No prior hiking experience is required—just a sense of adventure and a love of nature.
Moderate hike (3–4 km) with some steep stair climbing.
Guiding in English.
Bus pick-up from Jerusalem, Latrun, and Modi’in Train Station
Cost: 470 nis per person
415 nis for members of Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) and English Bird Club.
Includes bus, Professional guide, and entrance fees.
