Jerusalem's Urban Oasis: A Day of Nature, Culture, and Wildlife
Join us as we reveal a hidden side of Jerusalem. This day out offers a peek at the thriving wildlife right under our noses. We'll see conservation in action as we encounter migrating songbirds, free-roaming gazelles, and the people who are working to create a healthy, vibrant environment for all of us.
Our Tour Includes:
The Nili and David Jerusalem Bird Observatory
We'll kick off our adventure at SPNI's Nili and David Jerusalem Bird Observatory, right in the heart of Jerusalem. Despite its central location, right next door to the Knesset itself, this is one of the most active bird migration stopover points in Israel.
Gazelle Valley
Next, we'll head to Israel's largest urban conservation site, where a herd of 150 indigenous endangered gazelles roam freely in their natural habitat. While there, we'll hear about the creative community initiatives, innovative water management systems, and rich ecosystems that help to preserve this urban oasis.
Beit Levi Eshkol
This museum is run in partnership with SPNI and offers a personal perspective on Israel's leaders. We'll learn about Levi Eshkol, see Golda Meir's kitchen, and enjoy a light dairy lunch in the home of past prime ministers.
Scenic Hike in the Jerusalem Hills
As the day winds down, we'll lace up our hiking boots for a walk in the Jerusalem hills. In this natural beltway around the city, we'll get a chance to appreciate the wildflowers in their peak season and may spot local animals. This ecological buffer zone is the perfect grand finale to a day of discovery, right in Israel's capital.
